Harry Heuman
Team Leader


Harry Heuman was born in Germany to parents who were Holocaust survivors. After immigrating to the United States, the Heuman family settled in a small town in upstate New York State where his father was the only physician. Harry graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a BA in Sociology and Political Science. He went to graduate school at Texas A&M University and earned a Master of Urban Planning degree.

Harry has worked in Planning Departments in California, Illinois New York. He is the Manager for Commercial and Sign Permitting in Hillsborough County which has an annual growth of approximately 20,000 people per year. Harry has worked in Hillsborough County for over 22 years. Harry has authored or co-authored many land development regulations while in Hillsborough County and other communities. He has also been very successful with grant writing and problem resolution.

Harry uses much of his non-work time to volunteer. As a member of the Tampa Hyde Park Rotary Club, he has been the Chair for Membership and Programs and served as President. Currently, he is an Assistant Governor, a member of the District Conference Committee and the Australia GSE Team Leader. He is also active with the Florida Holocaust Museum as the Membership Chairman and is on the Executive Board. Harry also volunteers with the Hillsborough Association for Retarded Citizens as a Board Member having served two years as its President. Harry is a graduate of Leadership Hillsborough and has served on its Board of Directors. Harry also participates with activities for the Dress for Success organization.

Harry likes outdoor activities including gardening and likes to read outside. He also enjoys doing small home improvements. He and his wife enjoy traveling, especially to international locations with their most recent trip being to Egypt.

Harry is married to Darlene and they have four children (Joshua, David, Rebekah and Stephanie) and three granddaughters (Shelby, Skylar and Alexa). They share their home with four cats (Abbey, Isabel, Zorro and Robin).
